Saturday double: Fast Tracker lands the Doonside Cup and Crazy Cubana strikes at Chester

The team landed a welcome double on Saturday when Crazy Cubana won the John Smith's Nursery Handicap at Chester and Fast Tracker won the Doonside Cup, a Listed race over 1m2f at Ayr.

Crazy Cubana, a two-year-old filly owned by American venture West Paces Racing, returned to winning form in the hands of apprentice jockey Ashley Lewis. Appearing unphased by the Heavy going, this daughter of Kodiac out of a Dubawi mare Dukinta, broke well and took a keen hold early on. Despite looking under pressure from 2f out, she battled strongly up to the straight to win by a head.

The adverse ground conditions at Ayr meant there was some delay before Fast Tracker lined up in the Doonside Cup at Ayr. Justifying favouritism, the five-year-old son of Churchill out of Emma Knows (Anabaa) travelled strongly throughout the race in the hands of James Doyle. Staying on well inside the final furlong, Fast Tracker won by two and a quarter lengths in the colours of Wathnan Racing.

Congratulations to all connections. Pictured below is Fast Tracker.
